Welcome to the Dean Green Guide

Welcome to the online Dean Green Guide – a directory of goods and services from the Forest of Dean to help you contribute to a better environment.

Look through the Guide for local products and services, for examples of environmental projects, and information on how to improve your environmental footprint. We hope you will be inspired by the range and diversity of products and services available in the Dean.

If you’re a business, look in that section for opportunities on training, a waste exchange, courses for your staff, profiles of companies who have taken environmental initiatives and advisory bodies.

Choosing greener or more ethical options doesn’t have to be more expensive, and there are plenty of examples of how changing our behaviour can also save money. But in the end its about the future we want to leave our children.

Cycling has also declined from 51 miles to 36 over the same period covering 16% fewer miles, while drivers covered an average of 5,750 miles per year, and air travel in the UK rose to 11%. In London, the number of miles travelled by bus rose by 58% and by tube 13% though bus travel outside London has fallen. About two thirds of adults are now officially overweight or obese - a trebling in the last 20 years which doctors blame on poor diet and a lack of physical activity. Independent 8.9.06
